Ballarat voices support for renewables

TBI columnist Jon Stanger embedded himself with Ballarat Renewable Energy and Zero Emissions (BREAZE) volunteers as they doorknocked Ballarat households seeking residents' views on renewable energy. Part of a National Doorknocking Day under the umbrella of the 100% Renewables campaign, 20 volunteers doorknocked hundreds of houses with 120 surveys completed. This adds to the 10,000 surveys that have been completed around the country.

Jon talked with BREAZE spokesperson and volunteer Maggie Towers about the campaign and how she got involved. Also of interest was a resident of Canadian who has taken on renewable energy as a hobby with solar panels and small wind turbines attached to his house.

Great use of multimedia! It's fantastic to see so many people being proactive about renewable energy.

Where did you find that Maggie Towers? She rocks!

Jon Stanger

Thanks Shayna and Andrew, Maggie is very impressive, great passion and for good reason too - it's her future at stake. A bit I left out of the clip was her explaining the changes she's seeing in the environment and wildlife through her environmental studies. Looking forward to hearing more from her.
